Comments |
| Fastball: | Jenkins threw his fastball in the 90-94 mph range. He throws a two- and four-seamer. |
| Fastball movement: | It has hard, heavy and late sink to both sides of the plate, inducing ground balls. |
| Slider: | It's an out pitch and he throws it 80-85 mph. |
| Changeup: | He shows a plus one, an out pitch to left-handed hitters, thrown 80-83 mph with late sink and fade. |
| Control: | He's got good command of all his pitches. |
| Poise: | He's a smart pitcher with great pause who makes excellent adjustments on the mound. |
| Physical Description: | Jenkins is a big burly right-hander, a workhorse type with broad shoulders, long arms and thick, strong legs. |
| Medical Update: | Healthy. |
| Strengths: | Three pitches that can be above-average to plus, good command, good feel for pitching. |
| Weaknesses: | He'll occasionally try to overthrow to try and get a strikeout. He doesn't have a long track record of success to draw from. |
| Summary: | Over the course of his junior season, Jenkins caught up to, then passed up teammate Kyle Heckathorn on Draft boards. With a terrific three-pitch mix and a good idea of how to pitch, Jenkins looks like a durable workhorse who will fit nicely into a big-league rotation in the not-too-distant future. He comes from a small school and doesn't have a long track record of success, but that shouldn't keep him from going off the board in the first round. |
