Data Management Part-Time Staff »

The primary purpose of the job is to assist the Baseball Analytics department with the design, implementation, and management of the Baseball Department's information architecture. The candidate will assist the Baseball Analytics staff to maintain data infrastructure, support needs, implement solutions, and drive innovation in baseball's data-driven decision process. Key functions will include data modeling, integration, warehousing, and consumption. This is an in-season 35-40 hour a week hourly position.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
    Data Modeling
  • Understand and document existing database structures, historical design decisions, business rules, and future requirements
  • Develop and document a comprehensive information model that describes the data and maps the workflow that transform and manipulates it into usable information
  • Ensure "single version of the truth" consistency across applications and reports
    Data Integration
  • Create and manage ETL (extract, transform, load) data integration processes
  • Understand the format, definitions, limitations, and content of external and internal data feeds
  • Reconcile differences across data sources and consolidate into a single master repository
  • Knowledge of managing and reading XML, JSON, CSV among other data formats into proprietary databases
  • Assist efforts to identify, obtain and integrate new data sources useful for decision-making
    Data Warehousing
  • Design and manage a data warehouse to support reporting and analytics
  • Review and assess technical proposals requesting changes or upgrades to the existing databases
  • Data Consumption
  • Support data and reporting requirements for a variety of applications, analysts, and end-users in all departments
  • Provide technical and strategic advice of the management in the creation and implementation of new data standards, databases, products, and vendors
REQUIREMENTS:
    Education and Work Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or related field (candidates still in school with extensive work towards such degree will be considered)
  • Information technology experience
  • Business intelligence, data warehousing, OLAP, and/or data integration experience.
  • Proven data modeling experience
  • Experience designing, implementing, and managing large and complex data warehouses and cubes in Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services
  • Thorough knowledge of design and integration principles for complex, heterogeneous databases
  • Experience with ETL and BI reporting tools (e.g. Microsoft SSIS & SSRS)
  • Advanced knowledge in query development, including SQL, MDX, and stored procedures
  • Experience parsing XML, JSON and CSV formatted data
  • Candidates with some, but not all skills are encouraged to apply
    Relevant Skills
  • Knowledgeable about software development best practices and long-term maintainability of code
  • Ability to effectively diagnose, isolate, and resolve complex problems pertaining to data infrastructure, integrity, and incompatibilities
  • Familiarity with baseball and sabermetrics strongly desirable
  • Experience using statistical programs (R, Python or others) and/or data mining (WEKA or others) applications is desirable
  • Advanced Excel knowledge (VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, Conditional Formatting)
  • Familiarity with any of application development and/or web technologies is desirable
    Functional Skills
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends required
  • Effective communication with both co-workers and guests
  • Passion for Baseball, strong intellectual curiosity and strong communication skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain successful working relationship with members of the Front Office

Social Media & Publications Assistant »

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate with the Assistant Director and Vice President to ensure year-round, consistent and professional social media communication.
  • Develop fresh and creative ideas for social media engagement on all Rockies platforms, especially game coverage on Twitter, coordinating execution with the Assistant Director.
  • Conduct player and staff interviews, write magazine stories and develop content as needed for monthly club publications.
  • Manage Rockies Magazine subscription process, handling renewal mailings, customer service issues, sales tracking, annual Holiday Offer, etc. Assist in the distribution of magazines, both internally and externally.
  • Assist the program coordinator and Vice President with all multicultural marketing programs (Adult Leadership Award, Youth Essay Contest and Black History Month artistic contest), including organizational and administrative functions (mailings, emails, database maintenance, coordination with evaluators and nominees, site visits, game day ceremonies and final September events).
  • Assist with all department and organizational needs and events throughout the year, always with an eye on creative development, generating ideas and providing assistance to each facet of the department: communications, advertising, marketing and publications.
Experience/Skills Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Excellent writing ability. Attention to detail is a must. Editing experience is a plus.
  • Ability to multi-task, time-manage and organize various initiatives simultaneously.
  • Professional experience is preferred using various social media platforms, especially Twitter.
  • Consistent professional image and demeanor, around baseball personnel and players especially, and the ability to work well with coworkers at all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of baseball and a passion for sports is a must.
  • High customer service standards and experience.
  • Ability to proactively contribute, develop and execute creative ideas.
  • Consistent, punctual and regular attendance and comfort level with non-traditional hours, especially during the season.
  • Graphic design experience is a plus.
  • Spanish proficiency is a plus.

Game Day Positions, Guest Service - Event Services, LLC »

Primary Purpose:

Event Services, LLC is looking for outgoing, motivated and friendly people to join our Guest Service team during game days at Coors Field

Job Responsibilities:

We have Guest Service Representative positions available in the following areas:

  • Gates - Greet guests, check and scan tickets, conduct bag checks for prohibited items, provide accurate ticket scan counts
  • Usher - Greet guests, check tickets, assist guests to seats and provide quality service to enhance Guest's experience
  • Interactive Game Area - Greet guests, monitor lines, restock balls, ensure payment for game, and ensure Guests' safety. Close interaction with children/parents, and ensuring that ballpark policies are followed
  • Guest Relations - Greet guests, assist guests getting into the park, give directions, assist with Guest birthdays and special occasions
  • VIP Representative - Suite Level, Restricted Area - Greet guests and monitor ballpark policies. Upon hiring, must complete a Colorado Court Search Investigation background check and obtain a City and County of Denver, Merchant Guard License

Coordinator - Communications »

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the communications team and at the direction of the Director of Communications on all baseball and business communications for the organization, representing the Rockies brand in a positive and professional manner.

  • Directly assist the Director of Communications and the Coordinator of Communications in day-to-day media relations and public relations activities for the organization. And under the direction of the Vice President of Communications & Marketing, help ensure constant collaboration with other entities of the department, i.e. social media, publications, advertising and marketing, toward unified communication of all baseball, business and brand messages for the organization.
  • Coordinate production of team's media guide, including, but not limited to, writing, editing, layout and design. Work closely with printer for media guide delivery prior to reporting to Spring Training in mid-February.
  • Responsible for accreditation and distribution of season and daily credentials for Spring Training, regular season and postseason, utilizing the MLB and internal online system. Manage game tickets and parking for the media; tracking requests and handling distribution.
  • Maintain media contacts and email addresses for news releases, game notes and audio/video distribution, locally, regionally and nationally. Develop trust and maintain strong relationships with the working media (local, national and international), including traditional writers and reporters, as well as photojournalists, bloggers and content contributors with other non-traditional platforms. Stay current on all coverage of the team and organization, assisting in developing strategy as needed.
  • Work closely with director and coordinator on daily media relations duties, including but not limited to: creation of daily media notes, drafting news releases as needed, arranging interviews for players/front office/staff, setting up press conferences and press box operations. Serve as the club spokesperson on team road trips, during Spring Training and regular season, as needed.
  • Compile daily news clips for email distribution to front office and media, including building historical archive for quick reference.
  • Help ensure accurate and up-to-date information on any organizational materials, including Rockes.com, social media platforms, media information, etc. Provide thorough fact checking and editing on all department and organizational projects.
  • Utilizing the Elias Sports Bureau, STATS and other services, research and provide statistical analysis for media materials, magazine, game notes, news releases, baseball operations and front office, etc. Establish and maintain statistics, records, and team and individual information
  • Assist with coordination of multimedia (audio and video), including recording, editing and uploading multimedia to the website/MLB pressbox.
  • Work closely with team broadcast partners to provide timely news, statistics and information.
  • Act as department's primary liaison with the club's Minor League affiliates.
  • Always have an eye for storylines/content and ways to proactively tell those stories on the various platforms within the Communications & Marketing Department, i.e. social media, advertising, marketing and the team's monthly publication, Rockies Magazine. Periodically write and edit team magazine articles and features.
  • Hold prominent role in the department's Social Media presence, in particular, help cover the @RockiesPR Twitter account and provide/post timely content, including video and photos on all Rockies social media platforms as needed.
  • Professionally engage/collaborate with various organizational stakeholders, including Ticketing, Promotions/Corporate Sales and Community departments to promote team appearances and business opportunities.
  • Assist department in the operations of various organizational events, such as the offseason caravan and Rockies Fest, including travel to various cities throughout Rocky Mountain region, player relations/communications and logistics.
Experience/Skills Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in communications, public relations, sports management or related field.
  • Minimum two years of experience in media relations and/or communications department, professional sports franchise or NCAA preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal communications skills. Ability to work effectively and professionally with people at all levels inside and outside the organization, especially Major League players, staff and members of the media.
  • Highest standards of professionalism, integrity and work ethic.
  • Strong ability to multi-task, manage time and remain organized
  • Strong knowledge of baseball, statistics and game/team history
  • High proficiency on all social media platforms and ability to use them effectively
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word, as well as layout software (Adobe In-Design, primarily; Photoshop and Illustrator a plus).
  • Non-traditional work schedule with frequent overtime hours and travel, as needed, throughout the year. All game days, home and away, from Spring Training through regular/postseason.
