DENVER -- Rockies lefty reliever Josh Newman spent his first full day in the clubhouse on Wednesday. Newman got the call to join the big league club in the middle of Triple-A Colorado Springs' day game Tuesday and arrived in Denver midway through Tuesday's game.
It's Newman's second time up with the big league club. He pitched two innings in two appearances in a September callup last season. He appeared in seven games for the Sky Sox this year, yielding two runs in 8 1/3 innings.
"I'm not looking at the bigger picture," Newman said. "I'm looking at the small picture. When they call my name, be ready. Make the most of each opportunity and that's all I can do. I can't sit around and think about things that are out of my control.
Newman threw a bullpen session on Tuesday and said he would be available Wednesday against the Cubs.
