Royals sign Korean catcher Jin-ho
Teenager will report to Arizona instructional league next fall
SURPRISE, Ariz. -- The Royals have signed catcher Shin Jin-ho, believed to be the first Korean player in the organization.
Jin-ho, 17, will finish high school and report to the Arizona instructional league next fall, according to Rene Francisco, the Royals' special assistant to the general manager, international operations.
"He's 6-3, 190 pounds with good power and agile for his size," Francisco said. "You know how hard catching is to find, so if you find ability, you want to try it."
