DETROIT -- The Rockies announced Sunday that catcher Chris Iannetta was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring before the series finale against the Tigers. To take Iannetta's roster spot, Colorado purchased the contract of Paul Phillips from Triple-A Colorado Springs. Phillips played in 62 Major League games from 2004-08, hitting .255. He is hitting .317 this year in 20 games for Colorado Springs, and he flew to Detroit to join the team Sunday.
To make room on the 40-man roster, the team moved Jeff Baker from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list.

Iannetta's injury took place while running the bases during the Rockies' 4-3 win Saturday night. Iannetta was rounding third base on a Garrett Atkins single, but he felt his hamstring tighten as he neared third. But by the time he made it to third base, the pain had severely worsened, and he pulled up three steps past the bag.
Backup catcher Yorvit Torrealba took Iannetta's place in Saturday's game, and he also got he nod in Sunday's finale. Torrealba was hitting .250 in 13 games this season entering Sunday.
Iannetta said he might have been able to take a couple days off and then return to action if he wasn't Colorado's catcher.
The timing of the injury is unfortunate for Iannetta. After going 0-for-9 entering Saturday's game, he was 2-for-3 with a home run and a double before leaving the game.
