SAN FRANCISCO -- The Rockies will open the 2010 season at Milwaukee's Miller Park next April 4, but the home schedule has a special feature -- a rematch of the 2007 World Series with a three-game set with the Red Sox from June 22-24. Next season will mark the 12th time in 18 seasons that the club has begun the season on the road. Opening against the hosting Brewers means the Rockies will have a chance to play under a roof for three games, April 4-6. The Rockies have never opened a season against the Brewers. It'll be the third straight year the Rockies have opened on the road. They began at St. Louis in 2008 and at Arizona this season. The Coors Field slate will begin against the Padres in a three-game series, April 9-11. The season-opening homestand will conclude with a three-game set with the Mets starting April 13. However, the Interleague series with the Red Sox is the highlight of the home schedule. The Red Sox swept the Rockies in the 2007 series. During that year, the Rockies won two of three at Fenway Park. The American League's Blue Jays will visit Coors Field from June 11-13. Interleague road series will be against the Royals from May 21-23, the Angels from June 25-27 and the Twins at the new Target Field from June 15-17. The final homestand of the year will be within the National League West, against the Padres from Sept. 24-26 and the Dodgers from Sept. 27-29. However, in a twist, the season ends with a four-game road set against the National League Central's Cardinals from Sept. 30 to Oct. 3. The Rockies are at San Diego on Cinco de Mayo, at the Dodgers on Mother's Day (May 9), at the Giants on Memorial Day (May 31), at home against the Brewers on Father's Day (June 20), at home against the Giants on Independence Day (July 4), and at home against the Reds on Labor Day (Sept. 6).Thomas Harding is a reporter for MLB.com.
