Former Colorado Rockies utility infielder Mike McCoy was claimed off waivers on Tuesday by the Toronto Blue Jays and added to the Jays' 40-man roster.McCoy, a 32nd-round pick by St. Louis in 2002, is an eight-year veteran who enjoyed his best season to date in 2009 when he hit .307 with 40 steals at Triple-A Colorado Springs, playing every position except catcher and first base (he pitched in one game as well). The 28-year-old capped off the campaign by making his Major League debut for Colorado, going hitless in five at-bats in September and October.
Overall, McCoy played in 132 games for the SkySox, with two homers, 52 RBIs and 27 doubles, scoring 102 runs and posting a .405 on-base average.
