DENVER -- The Rockies traded right-handed relief pitcher Felipe Paulino to the Kansas City Royals for cash considerations on Thursday night. The Rockies acquired Paulino, 27, during the offseason from the Astros for former starting second baseman Clint Barmes, with hopes of finding consistency in his power arm. It didn't happen. Paulino went 0-4 with a 7.36 ERA in 18 games of relief before the club designated him for assignment on Saturday. The move meant the Rockies had 10 days to trade Paulino, release him or assign him outright to the Minors. Paulino is 6-25 with a 5.93 ERA in a combined 65 games with the Astros and Rockies, including 35 starts, all with the Astros. The Rockies had 38 players on their 40-man Major League roster.
