DENVER -- Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki was the team's lone All-Star in 2011 and, according to the Denver chapter of the Baseball Writers' Association of America, he was the team's biggest star all year long.

Tulowitzki was chosen as the team's player of the year by the local chapter in its annual voting, announced Wednesday by the BBWAA. It's the second time in three seasons that Tulowitzki has earned the award. Tulowitzki also was the chapter's rookie of the year in 2007.

Also honored were right-handed relief pitcher Rafael Betancourt as pitcher of the year, left-handed relief pitcher Rex Brothers as rookie of the year and first baseman and pinch-hitter Jason Giambi as winner of the local chapter's Good Guy Award.
