Rangers announce 2013 Spring Training schedule and pricing
Team opens Cactus League play on Friday, February 22
Arlington, TX - The Texas Rangers are scheduled to play 38 spring training games in 2013, including 33 Cactus League contests. The club released its complete spring training schedule and pricing on Tuesday.
The 38 games are the most the Rangers have ever had scheduled for a regular spring training season.
Texas’ 33-game Arizona schedule features 18 contests at Surprise Stadium/Billy Parker Field. The Rangers will be the home team for 17 of those games and will be the visiting club for one contest against the Kansas City Royals, who share the Surprise complex with Texas. Those two teams will play four times overall in Surprise in 2013, opening the spring schedule with three consecutive games: Friday, February 22 (Rangers home game), which is the Surprise Sundancers Charity Game; Saturday, February 23 (Royals home game); and Sunday, February 24 (Rangers home game). Texas will also be the home team for the final spring meeting between the clubs on Monday, March 18.
In addition, the Rangers will host the Chicago White Sox twice and play the Arizona Diamondbacks, Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Indians, Colorado Rockies, Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers, Oakland A’s, San Diego Padres, San Francisco Giants, and Seattle Mariners once each in Surprise. At the other Cactus League parks, the team has two games with the Padres and Mariners and one each with the Diamondbacks, Cubs, White Sox, Reds, Indians, Rockies, Angels, Dodgers, Brewers, A’s, and Giants.
Texas will play 6:05 p.m. MT games in Surprise with Kansas City on Monday, March 18 and versus the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday, March 21. All other Rangers games in Surprise will be 1:05 p.m. MT starts.
In addition, the Rangers will participate in the 2013 Big League Weekend in Las Vegas for the second straight season, meeting the Chicago Cubs on Saturday and Sunday, March 16-17 at Cashman Field, both at 1:05 p.m. MT. Texas will also play Cactus League split squad games in Arizona on those dates, March 16 vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers in Surprise and March 17 against Seattle in Peoria.
The Rangers will close the 2013 spring training slate with three exhibition games in the state of Texas. The club will play the Mexico City Red Devils of the Triple-A Mexican League for the second consecutive season on Thursday, March 28 at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington in a 7:05 p.m. CT contest. Texas also closes the Cactus League schedule that day with a split squad game against Arizona in Surprise at 1:05 p.m. MT. The club will then face the San Diego Padres in the Big League Weekend series at the Alamodome in San Antonio on Friday (7:05 CT) and Saturday (1:05 CT), March 29-30 before opening the 2013 regular season in Houston against the Astros.
2013 individual ticket prices for Texas Rangers games at Surprise Stadium: Lower Dugout--$27.00; Upper Dugout--$24.00; Infield--$21.00; Plaza--$17.00; and Lawn--$8.00. Full season and 7-Game ticket packages are also available as well as group ticket packages. Parking is free to all games at Surprise Stadium.

Prior to the start of the exhibition season, the Rangers will hold workouts at the organization’s complex in Surprise. Pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report on Tuesday, February 12 and will work out for the first time on Wednesday, February 13. The reporting date for infielders and outfielders is Friday, February 15 and the first full team workout is Saturday, February 16.
