Rockies activate RHP Tyler Chatwood from 15-day disabled list
Club recalls INF Josh Rutledge from Triple-A
The Colorado Rockies announced today that the club has activated right-handed pitcher Tyler Chatwood from the 15-day disabled list. In addition, the club has recalled infielder Josh Rutledge (#14) from Triple-A Colorado Springs. Chatwood (#32) is scheduled to start today's game against the Cincinnati Reds (2:10 p.m. MDT) at Coors Field.
Chatwood, 24, made 15 starts for the Rockies this year before being placed on the disabled list with right elbow inflammation. For Colorado, he has gone 7-4 with a 3.15 ERA (85.2 ip, 30 er) with 28 walks compared to 60 strikeouts. He began the 2013 season with Triple-A Colorado Springs where he went 2-1 with a 2.91 ERA (34.0 ip, 11 er) with 7 walks compared to 33 strikeouts over 6 starts. Chatwood has appeared in 61 career Major League games with 52 starts and has gone 18-21 with a 4.43 ERA (292.1 ip, 144 er).
Rutledge, 24, was a member of the Rockies Opening Day roster and has played 67 games between two stints with Colorado this season. He's batted .211 (48-for-227) with 5 doubles, 6 home runs, 16 RBI and 35 runs. In 38 games for Colorado Springs, he's batting .371 (53-for-143) with 17 doubles, a triple, 4 home runs, 24 RBI and 24 runs. Over his last 10 games with the Sky Sox, he's gone 15-for-30 with 5 doubles, a home run, 9 RBI and 7 RBI. In 140 career Major League games (2012-13), Rutledge has hit .246 (124-for-504) with 25 doubles, 5 triples, 14 home runs, 53 RBI and 72 runs.
The Rockies currently have 39 on the 40-man roster.
