Red Sox place outfielder Shane Victorino on 15-day disabled list
The Boston Red Sox placed outfielder Shane Victorino on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to April 23) with a right hamstring strain. To fill his spot on the 25-man roster, right-handed pitcher Matt Barnes was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket.

The Red Sox will present their Opening Day Ceremonies before their 115th home season, and their 104th at Fenway Park, this Monday, April 13, starting at approximately 2:30 p.m. The team then plays the Washington Nationals at 3:05 p.m.
