The St. Louis Cardinals today announced the signing of shortstop Oscar Mercado, the team's 2nd round selection (57th player overall) in the 2013 June First-Year player draft. The Cardinals also reached agreement with five other draftees and a non-drafted free-agent.

Homestand Highlights (Monday, June 17 - Sunday, June 23, 2013)
Following a nine-game road trip to Cincinnati, New York and Miami (5-4), the Cardinals return to St. Louis to take on division rivals, the Chicago Cubs, and the 2011 American League Champion Texas Rangers in their first rematch with the Cardinals since Game 7 of the 2011 World Series. St. Louis Cardinals complete 2013 First-Year Player Draft
ST. LOUIS, Mo., June 8, 2013 - The Major League Baseball 2013 First-Year Player Draft was completed this afternoon with the St. Louis Cardinals selecting 41 total players in the 40-round draft. Among the Cardinals selections today were 15 pitchers, six outfielders, three catchers and six infielders (22 pitchers, 11 infielders, 5 outfielders and 3 catchers total). Of the 41 draft picks, 30 were collegians and 11 were high school picks.
