Rockies set Opening Day roster
Full Rockies roster (pdf)
DENVER -- The Rockies made several moves official this morning to set the club's Opening Day 25-man roster.
The club has selected left-handed pitcher Tom Martin, catcher Miguel Ojeda, and infielder Jason Smith from Triple-A Colorado Springs. To make room on the roster for these players, the club has designated both left-handed pitcher Jaime Cerda and right-handed pitcher Mike Esposito for assignment. The Rockies have 10 days to trade, release or outright both Cerda and Esposito to the minor leagues.
The Rockies have placed right-handed pitcher Byung-Hyun Kim on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 29, with a strained right hamstring. The team has also placed catcher Yorvit Torrealba on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 24, with a right shoulder strain. Colorado will open the season with a franchise-record 7 players on the disabled list, surpassing the previous high of 5 in 1996, 2003, and 2005.
