DENVER -- As announced on 850 KOA Radio this morning, the new voice of Coors Field is 25-year-old Reed Saunders of Westminster, Colorado. Saunders replaces Alan Roach, who stepped down from the position following 14 seasons as the public address voice of the Rockies.

Saunders is a graduate of Colorado State University and currently works in sales at Coors/Molson in Golden, Colorado. Born and raised in Denver, he currently serves as the voice of the Colorado Eagles Hockey Team in Loveland, Colorado. His first assignment with the Rockies will be Opening Day, April 2, when the club hosts the Arizona Diamondbacks in a 2:05 p.m. MDT game.

Saunders was one of three finalists selected for online voting at the club's website, www.coloradorockies.com. Several thousand votes were cast for the finalists. One of more than 250 applicants for the position, Saunders was one of 18 to compete in a unique, three-step audition process last Monday, March 12 in front of family, friends and fans at the Sports Column in downtown Denver.

While stepping down from game-day duties, Roach's distinctive bass voice will continue to be heard in a variety of ways in and around Rockies baseball.
