DENVER -- The Colorado Rockies announced before today's game that the club has optioned right-handed pitcher Ryan Speier to Triple-A Colorado Springs. To take Speier's place on the roster, the team has recalled right-handed pitcher Denny Bautista (#54) from Colorado Springs.

Speier has gone 0-1 with a 15.43 ERA (2.1 ip, 4 er) in three relief appearances for Colorado since being recalled on April 21. He allowed at least one run in each of his 3 outings with the Rockies.

Bautista, 26, has no record with a 3.52 ERA (7.2 ip, 3 er) in 8 relief appearances for Colorado Springs this season. He issued 5 walks with 6 strikeouts for the Sky Sox, holding opponents to a .143 (4-for-28) average. He was acquired in a trade with Kansas City on July 31, 2006, and went 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA (6.2 ip, 4 er) in 4 games/one start for the Rockies last season. He is scheduled to be in uniform for today's series finale against Atlanta at Coors Field.
