Rockies trade RHP Jason Grilli to Texas
Club will receive a player to be named later or cash in return
tickets for any Major League Baseball game

DENVER -The Colorado Rockies announced today that the club has traded right-handed pitcher Jason Grilli to the Texas Rangers in exchange for a player to be named later, or cash.

Grilli, 32, was designated for assignment by Colorado on Friday, June 6. He went 0-1 with one save and a 6.05 ERA (19.1 ip, 13 er) in 22 appearances as a reliever this season. Grilli allowed runs in each of his last 5 appearances, including 7 of his last 9 outings for the Rockies. The right-hander finished April with a 1.08 ERA (8.1 ip, 1 er), but logged a 9.90 ERA (10.0 ip, 11 er) in the month of May. Grilli was acquired by the Rockies from Detroit in exchange for minor league right-hander Zach Simons on April 30, 2008. He has pitched in 72 games since his Rockies debut last season.
