DENVER -The Colorado Rockies announced today that the club has agreed to terms with right-handed pitcher Matt Belisle and left-handed reliever Randy Flores on Major League contracts for the 2010 season. Financial terms were not disclosed, per club policy. Additionally, the club announced that right-handed pitcher Joel Peralta and infielder Omar Quintanilla have been outrighted off the 40-man roster. Peralta elected to become a free agent.

Belisle, 29, went 3-1 with a 5.52 ERA (31.0 ip, 19 er) in 24 appearances with the Rockies in 2009. All 24 of the right-hander's outings were as a reliever, marking the first time since 2003 that he did not start a game in the Majors. Belisle had three stints with Colorado, as he also pitched in 33 games at Triple-A Colorado Springs (1-1, 3.09 ERA). During his final stint with the Rockies, from September 8 through the end of the regular season, Belisle posted a 2-0 record with a 1.42 ERA (12.2 ip, 2 er). He allowed runs in just two of his last nine outings while striking out 10 and walking none. Adding to his strong finish, Belisle pitched 2.0 scoreless innings in the National League Division Series versus the Philadelphia Phillies. He earned a hold in Game 2 of the NLDS, his first career postseason appearance.

Belisle has appeared in 156 games with Colorado (2009) and Cincinnati (2005-08, 2002) since his Major League debut in 2003. He is 11-15 with a 5.38 ERA (241.0 ip, 144 er) as a starter and 8-8 with a 4.58 ERA (131.2 ip, 67 er) as a reliever. Belisle joined the Rockies as a non-roster invitee to Rockies Spring Training in 2009. Prior to joining the Rockies, Belisle went 16-22 with a 5.06 ERA (341.2 ip, 192 er) in a Reds uniform. He set career highs in starts (30), wins (8), innings pitched (177.7) and strikeouts (125) as a member of Cincinnati's starting rotation in 2007. Originally selected by Atlanta in the second round of the 1998 First-Year Player Draft, Belisle was traded to the Reds during the 2003 season.

Flores, 34, went 0-1 with a 5.25 ERA (12.0 ip, 7 er) in 27 games for Colorado in 2009. He pitched a total of 12.0 innings in two stints with the Major League club, tossing less than 1.0 inning in 23 of his 27 outings. Flores held left-handed hitters to a .265 opponent's batting average with one home run (.313 vs. righties). He recorded 14 strikeouts (10.5 strikeouts per nine innings pitched) while issuing just a pair of walks. In 38 games with Triple-A Colorado Springs Sky Sox, Flores went 0-2 with a 4.26 ERA (31.2 ip, 15 er).

In 292 Major League games with Colorado (2009, 2002), St. Louis (2004-08) and Texas (2002), Flores is 9-5 with a 4.81 ERA (219.0 ip, 117 er). He joined the Rockies as a non-roster invitee to Spring Training in 2009, following five seasons with the Cardinals. The 2009 campaign marked a return to the Rockies for Flores, as the left-hander also pitched for the franchise in 2002. He has made a total of 35 appearances in a Colorado uniform, including two of his three career starts. Flores was not on the 2009 Rockies playoff roster, but he does have 12 games of playoff experience (1-0, 1.00 ERA). He pitched for the 2005 and 2006 Cardinals playoff clubs, including all three rounds of the postseason during St. Louis' 2006 World Series championship run. Flores was originally selected by the New York Yankees in the ninth round of the 1997 First-Year Player Draft.

The 33-year-old Peralta went 0-3 with a 6.20 ERA (24.2 ip, 17 er) in 27 games as a reliever for the Rockies in 2009. The right-hander logged 12 consecutive scoreless appearances (11.0 ip) from May 25 through June 26. He agreed to terms on a Minor League contract with Colorado on April 6, 2009 and began the season at Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Quintanilla, who turned 28 on October 24, hit .172 (10-for-58) with two doubles and two RBI in 58 games with Colorado last season. The versatile infielder spent the entire 2009 campaign on the Rockies roster, making a total of five starts at second base and shortstop. Quintanilla has played in all or parts of five seasons with the Rockies (2005-09), totaling 216 games in that span. He owns a career average of .220 (110-for-500) with 25 doubles, two home runs and 32 RBI.

The Rockies currently have 38 players on the club's 40-man roster.
