Rockies Recall RHP Josh Roenicke From Triple-A Colorado Springs

The Colorado Rockies announced today that the club has recalled right-handed pitcher Josh Roenicke from Triple-A Colorado Springs. To make room on the 25-man roster the club has also optioned right-handed pitcher Greg Reynolds to Triple-A Colorado Springs. Roenicke (REN-icky) will be in uniform (#56) and available in today's game against Washington.

Roenicke, 29, will be making his first appearance on the Major League for the Rockies after being claimed off waivers from Toronto on June 2. The right-hander will be looking to make his first appearance in the Majors since September 28, 2010 at NYY. In 38 games between Triple-A Colorado Springs and Las Vegas this season, Roenicke went 1-4, 4.67 (52.0 ip, 27 er). Roenicke last saw action in the Majors with Toronto in 2010 when he went 1-0, 5.68 (19.0 ip, 12 er) in 16 appearances. The UCLA product has a career Major League record of 1-0, 5.60 (53.0 ip, 33 er) with 57 strikeouts and 31 walks in 45 appearances. Roenicke was originally selected by Cincinnati in the 10th round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft.

Reynolds, 25, made his fourth stint on the Major League active roster this season in his last recall. He was originally recalled on April 7th and optioned on April 14th. He was again recalled on May 22nd and optioned on June 8th and again recalled for a spot start July 2nd and optioned the following day. In 7 games/3 starts for the Rockies this season, Reynolds is 3-0 with a 6.46 ERA (23.2 ip, 17 er), 8 walks and 12 strikeouts. Reynolds has spent the rest of his season with the Triple-A Colorado Springs Sky Sox, where he has gone 5-5, 6.58 (80.2 ip, 59 er) with 41 strikeouts, 21 walks and an opponent batting average of .345 in 14 starts. Reynolds was originally drafted by the Rockies in the first round (2nd overall) in the 2006 First-Year Player Draft.

The Rockies have 38 players on their 40-man roster.
