Hurdle, Hillman discuss strange inning
Managers talk about near beanball incident in ninth frame

He could see the umpires issuing a warning, which they did when lineups were exchanged at home plate prior to the start of the series finale.
"Nothing would surprise me," Hurdle said. "Obviously, we have opinions that were shared after the game. They were probably at least taken into context by the umpires. We had some people disappointed and upset, and we'd seen that before, where two pitches like that earn you an ejection. That's the umpire's discretion. They don't try to do my job. I don't try to do theirs."
The umpires gave Ramirez a warning on Tuesday night, but didn't eject him. Hurdle said that the umpires told him they didn't eject him because Ramirez's second pitch was so far away from Torrealba's head.
Hurdle and Royals manager Trey Hillman talked to each other early on Wednesday about the incident. Hurdle said they now both have a better understanding of what went on. He didn't elaborate further.
