Podsednik to begin rehab assignment

Rockies outfielder recovering from fractured left pinky

WASHINGTON -- Rockies outfielder Scott Podsednik, out since July 29 with a fractured left pinky finger, will begin an injury rehab assignment with Triple-A Colorado Springs on Monday.

Podsednik hit .263 with one home run and 15 RBIs in 75 games before suffering the injury while sliding headfirst into a base. Used mostly in late-game duty, he was also 10-for-13 on stolen base attempts.

Manager Clint Hurdle also said catcher Yorvit Torrealba, playing with slightly torn cartilage in his left knee, was fine on Sunday after returning to the lineup Saturday night. He was not available for three games because of the injury.

Chris Iannetta, who has earned the starting catcher job with a strong season -- hitting .270 with 14 homers and 49 RBIs -- got the start on Sunday against the Nationals.
