Brewers ace Yovani Gallardo pitched into the fourth frame, blanking the Rockies for 3 1/3 innings, allowing three hits and a walk while striking out two.
Rockies starter Alex White had a comparable outing, lasting three innings and yielding a run on two hits and two walks while striking out three. The run came in a rally initiated by Rickie Weeks' two-out double to left-center field. Rockies second baseman Brendan Harris missed the throw, an error that sent Weeks to third and allowed him to score easily on Carlos Gomez's subsequent single to left.
The Brewers' bullpen was solid in the middle innings, with Santo Manzanillo, Jose Veras, and Marco Estrada keeping the Rockies off the board.
The Rockies made things interesting with four runs in the ninth inning against Taylor Jungmann but came up a run short.Up next for Rockies: Right-hander Jeremy Guthrie makes his second start for the Rockies on Monday against the Padres.
