Tulo to have surgery on injured groin
By Jake Kaplan / MLB.com
Tulowitzki likely will miss eight weeks, Rockies general manager Dan O'Dowd told The Denver Post, though more will be known after the surgery, which will be performed by Dr. William Meyers.
The injury, which occurred on May 30, has not been classified as a sports hernia. Tulowitzki underwent tests earlier this week with Meyers, a noted sports hernia specialist.
"There's some scar tissue that is built up over a nerve," Rockies manager Jim Tracy said. "We're very hopeful they're going to successfully relieve that and get us beyond these problems and situations we've been dealing with over the course of the last year or so."
Tulowitzki, a two-time All-Star, will return to Denver after the surgery to begin the rehabilitation process. He was hitting .287 with eight home runs and 27 RBIs in 47 games before the injury.
