Rockies announce their 24 non-roster invites

The Rockies announced their 24 non-roster invites to Major League camp on Tuesday night, five days ahead of the team's report date for pitchers and catchers.

Half of those invites are pitchers. Seven of those arms have Major League experience, including 18-season veteran righty Miguel Batista. Manny Corpas, Logan Kensing and Chris Volstad are among the other names.

For position players, the Rockies are bringing along five infielders, three outfielders and four catchers. One of the backstops, Yorvit Torrealba, is plenty familiar -- he played 312 games for the Rockies from 2006-09.

A pair of Rockies first-rounders have their first career invites this year, too: left-hander Tyler Anderson (2011 Draft) and outfielder Kyle Parker (2010). Eight of the 24 are first-timers in big league camp overall.

Here is the full list of invites (asterisk indicates first time):

Pitchers: Tyler Anderson* (LHP), Miguel Batista, Chad Bettis, Manuel Corpas, Parker Frazier*, Daniel Houston*, Logan Kensing, Jeff Manship, Mike McClendon, Nick Schmidt* (LHP), Erick Threets (LHP), Chris Volstad.

Outfielders: Kent Matthes, Corey Dickerson*, Kyle Parker*.

Infielders: Nolan Arenado, Tommy Manzella, Matt McBride, Ben Paulsen, Henry Wrigley*.

Catchers: Yorvit Torrealba, Gustavo Molina, Lars Davis, Jose Gonzalez*.

The first full-squad workout is scheduled for Feb. 17, a week after the pitchers and catchers deadline.
