Pitching prospect Anderson on seven-day DL

Following his strongest start of the season for Class A Advanced Modesto on Monday, Rockies pitching prospect Tyler Anderson experienced minor shoulder soreness and was put on the seven-day disabled list on Thursday.

The Rockies said they don't expect their top left-handed prospect to be out longer than a week.

Anderson is the Rockies' No. 6 prospect according to MLB.com and was selected in the first round of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft by Colorado. The 23-year-old was sharp in his first pro season at Class A Asheville, leading the Tourists in ERA (2.47) while finishing second on the team in batting average against (.232).

Anderson is 12-4 with a 2.64 ERA over his Minor League career and 0-1 with a 3.18 ERA through his first seven starts of the 2013 season. The Oregon native struck out six, while allowing just two hits in six shutout innings on Monday, as the Nuts won their series finale against Bakersfield.
