Rockies place Troy Tulowitzki on 15-day DL

Club Recalls Infielder Josh Rutledge from Triple-A

The Colorado Rockies announced today that the club has placed infielder Troy Tulowitzki on the 15-day disabled list with a rib fracture on his right side. To take Tulowitzki's place on the active roster, Colorado has recalled infielder Josh Rutledge from Triple-A Colorado Springs. Rutledge will be available for tonight's Rockies vs. Phillies game at Coors Field (6:40 p.m. MDT).

Tulowitzki, 28, has batted .347 (77-for-222) with 16 doubles, 16 home runs, 51 RBI, 41 runs and a 1.048 OPS (.413 OBP, .635 SLG) in 61 games for the Rockies thus far in 2013. Tulowitzki enters the DL ranking in the top-5 among National League players in the following categories: batting average (2nd), home runs (3rd), RBI (4th), on-base percentage (3rd), slugging percentage (1st) and OPS (1st). In 805 career Major League games (2006-2013), all with Colorado, Tulowitzki has hit .296 (899-for-3035) with 176 doubles, 23 triples, 146 home runs, 521 RBI and 512 runs.

Rutledge, 24, was a member of the Rockies Opening Day roster in 2013. He has played 43 games in the Majors with the Rockies this season, batting .242 (38-for-157) with 3 doubles, 5 home runs, 13 RBI and 26 runs. Rutledge was optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs on May 22, and has played 17 games with the Sky Sox, batting .348 (24-for-69) with 9 doubles, 2 home runs, 10 RBI and 13 runs. In 116 career Major League games (2012-13), Rutledge has hit .263 (114-for-434) with 23 doubles, 5 triples, 13 home runs, 50 RBI and 63 runs.

The Rockies currently have 38 players on the 40-man roster.
