Third baseman Ryan McMahon, the Rockies' No. 5 prospect, hit a two-run home run to lead Class A Asheville to a 4-2 victory Tuesday at Greenville. The home run was his eighth of the season, the second-most in the Minor Leagues.
Tigers outfielder J.D. Martinez leads the Minors with 10 home runs, trailed closely by McMahon and Astros No. 4 prospect Jon Singleton, who are tied for second. But Martinez was promoted to the big leagues Monday, making his hold atop the leaderboard tenuous.
McMahon finished the game 1-for-3 with a walk. In 17 games this season, he is hitting .333 with 15 runs and a .807 slugging percentage.
Though Asheville is known as a friendly environment for hitters, McMahon has done much of his damage on the road. Five of his home runs have come away from McCormick Field, and he is hitting .345 with a .931 slugging percentage on the road vs. .321 with a .679 slugging percentage at home.
