Weiss loses challenge on double play in ninth

DENVER -- Instant replay was the final blow on a sloppy Saturday for the Rockies in their fifth straight loss, 9-4, to the Brewers on Saturday afternoon.

The Rockies, having already committed four errors, were double-play victims in the ninth inning despite a replay challenge from manager Walt Weiss.

DJ LeMahieu singled off Brewers reliever Rob Wooten to open the inning. Pinch-hitter Charlie Culberson followed with a line drive to right field, only to see the Brewers' Ryan Braun rush inward to make the catch. Braun noticed how far LeMahieu was off first base and doubled him off.

First-base umpire Mike DiMuro called LeMahieu out, and the ruling stood after replay.

The Brewers then went to Tom Gorzelanny, who forced a Charlie Blackmon groundout to end the game.

Weiss is 8-for-16 on replay challenges this season.
