Prospects Senzatela, Neiman combine on one-hitter

Antonio Senzatela, the Rockies' No. 20 prospect, and Troy Neiman combined for a one-hitter Thursday as Class A Asheville defeated Kannapolis, 1-0.

Senzatela walked a batter in the second and gave up a hit in the third, but hee was otherwise perfect Thursday. He retired the final 13 batters he faced before Neiman relieved him to start the eighth inning. Senzatela finished his outing with nine strikeouts in seven innings.

Neiman struck out one batter in two innings and earned his sixth save. His only blemish came in the ninth inning, when he threw a wild pitch on strike three to Ryan Leonards, allowing him to reach base. Neiman then induced a double play to end the game and preserve the shutout.

With the victory, Senzatela improved to 10-1 and has won three starts and nine decisions in a row. He is tied for the most wins in the South Atlantic League and has a 3.95 ERA and 53 strikeouts in 93 1/3 innings this season.
