Blackmon steals Castillo's thunder -- twice
By Thomas Harding / MLB.com
CHICAGO -- Whenever the heads of Charlie Blackmon and Cubs catcher Welington Castillo hit their respective pillows, the former will sleep sweetly, knowing he was the star of the latter's nightmares.
Blackmon made two diving catches that together robbed Castillo of three RBIs, and stole from the Cubs runs that could have shortened a game at Wrigley Field that went well into the night and into the wee hours of the morning.
With two on and two out in the first inning, Blackmon had to rush inward to leave his feet and snare Castillo's line drive. But that was nothing compared with his catch in the bottom of the 10th.
With Starlin Castro at second and one out, Castilo drove a Matt Belisle pitch to deep center. Shaded slightly to left, Blackmon sprinted and made a full-length dive to prevent the winning runs from scoring.
