After Trevor Cahill put the A's in an early hole, they began to claw their way back, and mounted a ninth-inning rally that brought the tying run to the plate but fell just short. Kurt Suzuki, Landon Powell and Daric Barton all doubled in the ninth, but the A's suffered their fourth straight loss.
