Congratulations Chris Scanlon
for winning the Piazza Memories Contest!

I was lucky enough to be in attendance for Mike Piazza's last game as a Met in September of 2005. We all knew it was the end but my friends and I couldn't bear to talk about it as we filed into Shea. When he was pulled from his final at bat for a curtain call it hit everyone pretty hard. It was very emotional for us and you could see that Piazza was feeling it, too. I'll never forget it. You always knew what he meant to the team, with his stoic expression and clutch hitting. He turned the franchise around. After the lean years in the early and mid-nineties Mets fans needed him. And he rarely dissapointed. Players retire, get traded, or released. And the team and the fans move on. But for me I'm still looking for Piazza when I go to see my Mets.
