On Monday, July 8, 2013, 74 foursomes, including the 2013 Toronto Blue Jays, coaches and alumni, competed in the 18th Annual Charity Golf Classic, presented by Rogers, Cisco, Samsung and Ericsson, at the Club at Bond Head in support of Jays Care Foundation.
To kick-off the day, each golfer was given a BlackBerry Q10, outfitted with custom New Era Blue Jays golf hats, and drew from an array of fabulous foursome prizes as a thank-you gift. While on the course, participants sampled Bacardi Rum, Mombacho Cigars, and entered the Big League Raffle for a chance to win many exclusive trips and experiences, including: a Bahamas getaway generously donated by Grand Isle Resort and Spa, and a Hawaii golf retreat courtesy of WestJet.
After the round, golfers enjoyed the 19th Hole Reception emceed by Sportsnet's Buck Martinez. Guests had a chance to peruse the silent auction, and mingle with Toronto Blue Jays players, coaches and alumni while enjoying delicious food and beverages courtesy of Coca Cola, Labatt, Bacardi and Mike Weird Wines.
The Urbacon foursome claimed the title of Tournament Champion! The highlight of this memorable day on the links was raising $650,000 to support Jays Care's coast to coast community investment.
